JD Scott, AIA WELL AP


A natural mentor with the right balance of academic and real-world experience. Committed to helping you define and achieve your design goals.

JD Scott is a licensed architect and emerging leader with 15 years of experience in the movement to tackle climate change and the affordable housing crisis. Throughout his career, JD has continually brought purpose, persistence and a collaborative spirit to all facets of his work.

As a practitioner committed to mentoring the next generation of designers, JD launched StudioGoat in 2026 to offer his expertise and knowledge base to architecture students.

In his current role of Principal Architect & Director of Practice at B.PUBLIC Prefab, JD manages & mentors the design team, ensures project excellence, and provides valuable thought leadership on long-term visioning and other firm initiatives.  Through his significant experience in wildfire rebuilding efforts from California to Colorado, JD has become a tireless client advocate and regulatory expert.  Always eager to expand his skills & expertise, he maintains a WELL AP credential and recently obtained a Hybrid-Timber Construction (HTC) certification from the University of British Columbia.

JD developed his knowledge base of high-performance construction and housing advocacy from the ground up, gaining hands-on skills through work with Habitat for Humanity, Bike & Build, and the Epicenter.  JD has also worked for acclaimed architectural practices at multiple scales, from the design of single-family homes to complex commercial, institutional and multi-family developments.

JD holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master of Architecture degree from Tulane University, where he served as Public Interest Design Fellow and Adjunct Lecturer.  He balances the rigors of his professional work with a burgeoning art practice.
